In a little over a week, Alan, my brother-in-law, and I will take off on a motorcycle trip circling Lake Superior. The journey will also include Lower Michigan’s shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. The 10-day tour will begin in Columbus, Ohio and take in parts of Ohio, Michigan, Ontario, Minnesota and Wisconsin, and cover roughly 2,500 miles. A rough outline of the route is shown on the left. We will both be riding BMW K1200GT sport-touring motorcycles. Alan’s is a beautiful metallic gray 2007 and mine is a blue 2008. Outfitted with touring luggage and advanced features, there is no better way to devour copious amounts of asphalt on two wheels.
The idea behind this blog is to allow friends and relatives to follow along as we progress along our route. I will be taking a lot of pictures and posting daily, provided I have access to the internet. Feel free to add your own comments to the blog.
Dream trip, you guys picked a great route and if you have never followed those shore lines you are in for some great sights and interesting places and people. Please include Christopher and Ryan ( Chris and a friend did the lower Michigan shore roads right after graduating from high school).

WOW I am getting sick. You are taking a trip I have wanted to do for a while. I am sitting in Russia, but will be home soo. I PM’d you my cell on I-BMW so give me a shout when you are coming round top of Superior. I will ride up over the bridge and meet up to ride along for a bit if I am free and looks good so far. I will bring cigars and port. You all should have great time. I will be watching for you pics and report. GOOD LUCK !!!

We’re doing a counter-clockwise rotation around the Lake. Port and cigars sounds good. I’ll give you a shout when we’re in the vicinity of Marquette.
