Day 5 – Columbus to Traverse City

Today was spent super-slabbing it from Columbus to Traverse City, MI.  At about 470 miles, it is likely the longest day on the road that we will have.  The bikes ran well, gobbling up the miles without any complaints.  Weather was clear, but it was hot!  I left Florida to get away from the heat, but I guess it followed me up here.  The thermometer read 96 degrees for most of the ride.

We got in at about 7:00 PM, and since our interest is to get to Canada, we really didn’t have any time for sightseeing.  We’ve both been here before.  We were thirsty and hungry though, and Hooters was nearby, so naturally we went there where we discovered that the natives are friendly!

After dinner, a couple of cigars and hit the sack.  Our goal for tomorrow is to hit Sault Ste. Marie on our way to Wawa, Ontario, about 300 miles North.
