15 &#8211; St. Ignace to Rochester to Columbus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/soundquarters.com\/bobsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/St-Ignace-to-Rochester.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-147\" title=\"St Ignace to Rochester\" src=\"http:\/\/soundquarters.com\/bobsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/St-Ignace-to-Rochester-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/soundquarters.com\/bobsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/St-Ignace-to-Rochester-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/soundquarters.com\/bobsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/St-Ignace-to-Rochester-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/soundquarters.com\/bobsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/St-Ignace-to-Rochester.jpg 602w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/soundquarters.com\/bobsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Rochester-to-Columbus.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-148\" title=\"Rochester to Columbus\" src=\"http:\/\/soundquarters.com\/bobsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Rochester-to-Columbus-300x297.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"297\" srcset=\"http:\/\/soundquarters.com\/bobsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Rochester-to-Columbus-300x297.jpg 300w, http:\/\/soundquarters.com\/bobsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Rochester-to-Columbus-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/soundquarters.com\/bobsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Rochester-to-Columbus.jpg 605w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The day began with more rain and high winds, although somewhat diminished from the day before.\u00a0 Less than a mile from the hotel, we were through the toll for the Mackinac Bridge and in a queue to be escorted across.\u00a0 Due to high winds, bridge authorities will not allow motorhomes, pickups pulling RVs or boats, or motorcycles to pass without an escort.\u00a0 The slowness of the convoy actually made it more difficult on the bikes because they don&#8217;t much like putting along at 20 mph.\u00a0 Once over the bridge, we were able to resume freeway speeds with the occasional crosswind modifying our trajectory.<\/p>\n<p>Not much to relate about the rest of the jaunt.\u00a0 Occasional rain and wind.\u00a0 We were interested in nothing other than reaching our next destination and I-75 was the quickest way to get there.<\/p>\n<p>We reached Rochester at about 4:00 and a business associate had arranged rooms in a very nice 5-star hotel.\u00a0 A little pricey, but a very nice way to spend our last night on the road.\u00a0 The rooms were large and lavishly appointed.\u00a0 They also had a big veranda, perfect for enjoying a cigar.<\/p>\n<p>In the evening, we met Gus, the business associate, at his upscale bar where we were ushered to his private cigar lounge.\u00a0 There we were treated to cigars, wine and delicious appetizers.\u00a0 Gus was an excellent host.\u00a0 I enjoyed visiting with him and appreciated his generous hospitality.<\/p>\n<p>I took a shuttle back to the hotel and slept very well.\u00a0 Only one more day on the road.<\/p>\n<p>The next day was strictly the business of getting back to Columbus.\u00a0 I-75 to 23 all the way, baby!\u00a0 The weather improved significantly, so the 300 or so miles were easy to take.\u00a0 Turn up the tunes and set the cruise.<\/p>\n<p>We arrived at my brother Jerry&#8217;s house at about 3:00 and Alan helped me load the GT on the trailer for the trip back to Florida.<\/p>\n<p>For all of the poor conditions we\u00a0met with\u00a0on this trip, it was still a great experience.\u00a0 Looking forward to the next motorcycle adventure &#8211;
